Happy Mother's Day

When I was a small child, my mother was taken away from my brother and me. In her absence, my dear Gramma stepped in and gave to us her undying love. The love she poured into us, is still alive and well in my soul.

Years later, I learned that my mother had been murdered. My heart was broken. So many unanswered questions which would never be answered. In her absence, the Lord so graciously provided other women who each filled a role in my life over the years. Anita Plouffe, Ma Poole, Dorothy Clement, Mrs. Bernier, Wilma Warta, and of course my dear Gramma Wahlgren. Thank you to each of you who loved me so much and cared for me at the different stages of my life. God richly provided you to hold me when I needed a momma, guide me when I was lost, dry my tears when I was drowning, and prayed for me for a lifetime. I love each of you.

I present this rose, which I drew from a rose given to me by my dear children, to each and every woman out there who has the honor of owning the title "Mom." The days pass quickly, and the pressure can be unbearable as we untangle the challenges which suddenly arise. To you younger mommas let me tell you, the moments you invest in your babies today, will return to you 100fold over a lifetime. I am living proof of a child who had the potential of going astray, yet, God provided the dear women above to mother me. They found value in me somehow and loved me in the absence of my dear momma.

Though the endless days pour into years of toil and hardship, remember, you are building lives. The moments you freely give, will return to you in love. Even greater than ourselves, the love you pour into each child, will reach countless lives throughout this generation. One heart at a time, mothers can make this world a better place. Do not give up and grow not weary in well doing. Happy Mother's Day and remember it is because of the mercy of God that we exist. If you belong to Him, in Him we live and move and have our being. Look to Him to lead you, guide you, and to pour wisdom into you as you shape the precious lives in your charge. The next generation is in our arms.
