Sweet Roses In Bloom Oil On Canvas

When I was only 6 years old, my dear Gramma Wahlgren, took me outside and sat me by her rose trellis. She set a pear on the little table and gave me a drawing pad and some crayons and instructed me to draw that pear. I quickly scribbled out a colorful blob and scurried in to show her. She gently took the paper, tore it up and told me, "I told you to draw me the exact pear I handed to you. Go back out and draw that exact pear."

Determined to avoid that experience again, I was careful to look at each detail and to capture that pear, exactly as it looked. The second attempt took quite a bit more time and when I was certain it was right, I went back in to gramma. A loving smile spread across her beautiful face and her kind, merciful eyes revealed her genuine approval. "Now, that is the pear I handed to you. Excellent!"

That brief encounter caused me to look deeper into the things before me. I have carried that mindset into every aspect of my life.
Roses are very special to me and my children. I painted these two roses with my son David and his beautiful wife Destiny in my heart as I painted them. When it was finished, I gave it to her. It is oil on canvas. Enjoy. Thank you again for spending a little bit of your time with me. Were you here, we would have coffee together and visit.

To God Be The Glory!
