My interest in drawing began when I was only 6 years
old. My grandmother had sent me out to sit in the
comfort of the warm summer sun by her rose trellis.
She gave me a box of crayons and a pear and a drawing
pad. She told me to draw that pear. In a few hasty moments,
I scribbled a green and red blob. As I scurried back
into gramma chiming about my accomplishment, she met me
with a smile.
She took my paper and in one fell swoop, she tore it in half.
Shocked, I drew in my breath! "I told you to draw THAT pear.
Not a blob."
She sent me right back out. Wanting to please her, I looked very
closely at every detail. Gramma didn't know how to draw, but
she was an awesome teacher. During the short journey with her
through life while she remained, she taught me to SEE detail.
Today, this is my lil grand daughter. She is my lil cover girl on my first book. After a lifetime of studying to SEE detail and to capture it perfectly, I now produce what I call, pencil paintings.I am so thankful to Gramma who has long since passed, but her investment in me lives on. This is one of my pencil paintings. My lil grandbaby was playing dress up at my house, so I drew her. Isn't she just beautiful!
You can get some of the tools through this link Rather than you going on a long search, I have narrowed it down for you.
I do teach one on one and will teach for your groups or summer retreats. Drawing is therapeutic and I love to watch my students come to life as they learn to SEE the world around them while pouring out what dwells within them. Commissioned works are also available, just shoot me an email. I look forward to "SEEING" you.
