As you have heard, my sons LOVE to tease me.
Well, this past fall as the warm days of summer were drawing to a close, my sons and I decided to walk to the lake and enjoy what little bit of summer lingered in the air. The water was still like glass hosting an irresistible reflection of the surrounding mountains. Caught in the moment, I drew in a gulp of fresh air, raised my camera to snap a photo thus preserving the site before me forever, and alas! THIS is what I captured..
Nonetheless, I tried again and captured THIS...
Before we left the lake, we walked the length and talked about life, skipped stones across the surface adding another memory to our treasure box of life. After a while, we grew hungry and decided to go for lunch.
That boy is gunnin' for YOU momma...
We decided on a fine dining restaurant. The hostess walked us to our table, I had to use the restroom so off I went while she seated my sons. When I returned, THIS is the site before my eyes. That is the elegant table cloth tucked into my youngest son's collar. Directly behind him is the alluring fireplace setting a romantic atmosphere to be disrupted by our outburst of laughter at my son's antics.
Too often, young men are misunderstood as rude or inconsiderate, when in reality momma, they are expressing their love for YOU. Don't cut off their developing sense of humor with criticism or disgust. You will deaden their desire to openly express their love not only for you, but for their future wife and child. Love them, laugh with them, endure the men they are becoming and walk WITH them not against them.
Eve stated rightly, "God has given me a man!" We are raising men, not boys. Let us journey with them, stop criticizing them. After the log hard day, ask God for the grace to appreciate the way they express themselves and adore them. We will pass this way ONLY ONCE momma. Only once...
